Microalgae as CO2 capture machines

Microalgae are perfect photosynthetic machines – Just like trees in their photosynthesis process, microalgae produce about 50% of the oxygen we need to breathe and the planet needs to live.

Buggypower incorporates CO2 capture and full treatment of Greenhouse Gases (GHG), capturing CO2 directly from emitting sources and proceeding to its fixation and sink through cultivation of microalgae, which uses CO2 as a food resource. As a result of this process, oxygen is released to the atmosphere.

The article bellow reviews some literature on microalgae that were cultivated using captured CO2, technologies related to its production and the possible commercialization of microalgae-based biofuels to demonstrate the potential of microalgae.

Despite its obvious focus on biofuels, it is an interesting article to showcases the microalgae potential as a CO2 capture machine – a useful tool for polluting companies.
